The folder creation for the custom modules can be achieved through the custom function which is available in the link below. Also, it has instructions for creating workflow as well.
This does allow you to UPLOAD, from your device into the folder created during the first attempt. It does not allow you to CREATE a new file from the interface which is what I needed. If you already have documents on drive that you'd want to move to sync, it's easiest to first click Add file to Google Drive, which creates the synced google drive folder and then you can go back to drive to move them. It's perfect use case is if THE ONLY THING you are doing is adding files from your device into zoho records, with an occasional adding from within DRIVE.
We will look into your feedback on creating a document from within Zoho CRM with this integration and contemplate the workability to incorporate it in our impending enhancements.
We have revamped the Google Drive extension by enhancing its feature of folder name customization. Now you will have the option to choose how a folder can be named in Google Drive by selecting the field value in Zoho CRM for the modules on the “Settings” page of the extension configuration.

Hmm, unfortunately, the approach would not work for me. The implementation requires creating a dedicated CRM folder in my Google Drive. I already have a folder for all my contact records and it's tightly integrated in studio workflows. Contacts have lots of data there already and I don't want to create duplicate records for them in the CRM folder now. What I hoped to see in this extension was a way to connect with my existing Google Drive structure, and linking from there... No luck here, looks like will have to use a 3rd party paid extension instead. Why did they think of this and not you, guys? :)
The way that this extension is designed, you need to have a root folder inside which the subfolders for the Zoho CRM records will be created where you can attach files for the respective records and view them as well. This way all the folders for Zoho CRM records are easily accessible and organized as well. However we will anyalyze the feasability of your requirement and shall look into the nitty-gritty details of including the same in our future enhancements.
I already installed the extension but the Zoho Folder was not created in my Google Drive Acoount. When I try to Add a File or create a New Folder there is an error, so far no integration unfortunately.
Please create a new folder "Zoho CRM" on your Google Drive Account inside your Team Drive or My Drive based on your business requirement and use that folder ID as Root Folder ID which will be available on the URL. Please update the Google Root Folder ID and Google Drive Value in Zoho CRM by navigating to Setup - Marketplace - All - Installed Extensions - Google Drive - Configure - Extensions settings.

This extension is helpful but is limited to few modules (Leads, Contacts, Accounts, Deals, Cases). It should be available with the rest of the modules particularly those file uploading is needed. Also, would it be possible to have the folders for the Accounts and Contacts be nested like a parent-child setup?

Google Root folder ID is a unique ID for a folder which you would like to make the root of all the folders. You can create a new folder "Zoho CRM" inside your Team Drive or My Drive based on your business requirement and use that folder ID as Root Folder ID which will be available on the URL.

HI Sathiya, When we try to add a file we keep getting the issue saying Failed upload and then it says Kindly update the root folder ID in the Configuration Page. Then we go to the Configuration Page and under Extension setting. Google Root Folder ID=none and google Drive Value- None. when we click Edit there is nothing to click or to tell us what we need to change to make it work
Issue with unique ID data for contacts. When Zoho creates the folders in Google Drive, it just uses the Contact name. It you have two contacts with the same name and different e-mails it cannot separation the data. So the same files show up for both contacts in Zoho. Is there a what to have Zoho create a folder in Google Drive using the unique key?

Works like a charm! Creates Folders and stores every uploaded file on the Lead or Contact folder so they don't get mixed You can see files on record level. Just have to set up folder ID and link. Nice.
